Those who would become THE PROSPECTORS first talked about forming the band at an exhibition at "THE geoffrey stapleton GALLERY" in 2013, where Danny Johnson , David Washington and Geoffrey Stapleton (who are also visual artists) were exhibiting work. Geoffrey approached David and David approached Danny and it was on.

Danny is also lead singer of "THE ALIENS" (watch him on COUNTDOWN) and Geoffrey also plays keyboards with "GANGgajang". The idea was to form an acoustic party band playing a repertoire of the songs that most influenced us as music obsessed young people.

Groove dream-team, Billy and Claire Thackray (Claire has her own radio show on Radio Adelaide) were recruited along with the amazingly talented Corey Stewart. Initially they were to perform just one show at the new Wassail Wine Bar at 95B Prospect Rd Prospect South Australia on a Sunday afternoon, but it turned into nearly four years.

When Corey left in late 2015, Chris Hudson filled in for a few shows before the band went of the road for three years. The original line up reformed for a comeback reunion on March 22nd 2019 at Wassail Wine Bar and broke all house attendence records.
