Janice LANE
My current body of work focuses on the concept of memory, in particular our ability to consciously access explicit memories of a place, a time, a person or even a song to transport our thoughts to another emotional state, and provide our souls a momentary escape from the present. Such memories I believe we carry with us like a small and treasured gifts and once opened we choose to share or covert the treasure within. In my work I use light, reflection, colour and illumination to create a special memory though the medium of paint.
Janice is currently studying for her Master of Visual Arts (painting) at Uni SA and has exhibited extensively over the last decade. She was chosen as a finalist in Aesthetica Creative Works Competition UK and Lethbridge 10000 small-scale art awards in Brisbane and was winner, Star Portrait event, Loreto College Spring Art Exhibtion as well as gaining a Helpmann Academy Grant – Asia Pacific Triennial.
Janice often paints on recycled materials and her first exhibition in a group show “Seeing Music” at The Geoffrey Stapleton Gallery showed her painting on pianola rolls as well as canvas. Since then she has exhibited regularly in our group exhibitions. |
