Paul STAPLETON

"I was born and raised in the country, on the mighty Murray River and I joined the local photography club around the age of nine with my Nan & Pop Packer. Then at the age of eleven I won the John Mac Osca Award for photography, a period in my life which first helped me learn about balance and form.  A good part of my inspiration has come from the River Murray and the Fleurieu Peninsula.
One of my biggest inspirations with my creativity has come from Geoffrey Stapleton. The inspiration began with music at first then moved onto art and I really appreciate all the encouragement Geoff has given me over the years.
I have played in bands such as The Skinks, Grenzenya, Shotgun Lenny, Andifsowhy (with Geoff) and The Naked Molerats. I have also photographed art work for the Gangajang Album, "Oceans & Deserts" and shot film work on their filmclips, "Sounds Of Then (This is Australia)" and "Nomansland"
I began working with metals a couple of years ago and most of my work is formed with hammer and railway iron. My work is created from a steel bench my pop Stapleton built over 60 years ago. I just love the way you can make something so hard, flow like its real..."
