I grew up in the north eastern suburbs of Adelaide and after leaving school, worked at The Advertiser while studying painting at the North Adelaide School of Art. I then moved to London and worked at various newpapers and magazines while studying for a BA(Hons) in jewellery and silversmithing. As a trained jeweler and painter, I have used these skills for different types of commissioned work. In London I have done installations and backdrops for nightclubs, made costumes for performers and worked on advertising campaigns and television programs.
For the past few years I have been using leather as my material of choice. Through the process of design I draw and paint before moving on to using jewellery and silversmithing techniques as I find some of the techniques that I use on the leather are similar to the raising and chasing of metal and the leather embossing.
After nearly 20 years in London I bought a property on the Murray Mallee and love the space and the creatures that share my house and property. It is these creatures and my own stories that I represent in my current work.
